Our Little Indea

So a week ago tonight, Ben and I were just "unwinding" after spending the afternoon at my parent's house doing some Spring Cleaning type yardwork as a Mother's Day present. We decided to watch "Twilight" and just lounge on the couch. We enjoyed just relaxing a bit....
We climbed into bed and drifted off to sleep...

About 2:30am I awoke to some cramping in my lower back. It wasn't like a traditional "contraction" so I didn't think much of it at first. It didn't come and go, just stuck around consistantly while I watched the clock. 3am rolled around and I wondered if I should wake Ben up to talk to him about my back pains. As I considered it more seriously, I felt a "shift" of sorts and thought instantly, "My water is about to break...."

I stood up, walked the 10 steps to our bathroom, and sure enough.... it broke.

I only had to say, "Uh... Ben?" and he jolted up in bed saying, "Did your water break?!"

When I said yes, his response was, "Holy cool, we're having a baby today."

We hadn't packed anything or prepped in that way so I stepped in Eva's room to throw some things together for her, so I could take her to my sister's house. I threw some things for me in a bag and loaded myself in the car. Ben came out carrying Eva, trying to explain that we had to go see the doctor because, "Mommy was going to have the baby today."

In her intensely groggy, three year old mind, all she could respond saying was, "I don't want to see it."

I can't blame her :)

We dropped her off to my lovely sister and drove fairly quickly to the hospital in Provo. The rest is semi-self explanatory. We checked in, got "settled" and I was experiencing regular contractions by about 6:30am. Ben was watching the monitors, and the nurse had said that I could have my epidural at any point I chose....

I was NOT looking forward to it, so I put it off for as long as I could possibly stand it.

By about 7:30 or 8am, I had the epidural completed and by 9:05am little Indea was born.... within about 10 minutes of delivering I looked to my doctor and said, "I feel sooooooooooo much better..."

All has been well since then... all 6 days of her life. She's mellow like Eva was, and is a pretty decent sleeper at nights too. So far so good.

For those of you that don't know, the name Indea is an adaptation of the name "India" but modified to include my mom's name, Dea.

She can't wait for the summer and all the summer fun included. I can't be more grateful to be un-pregnant.
